Rust shop base10/5/2023 Usually, I try to keep my prices around that value, but a bit higher so people can't buy individual components to craft it themselves for cheaper. If it's not possible to get an item in any way from NPCs, then I'd base my prices on the crafting value, based on the unit price of each component/resource that makes the item. This is generally the price I wanted to beat, because otherwise why would someone shop at yours instead of NPCs? I found out what their NPC price is, whether it is direct (a vending machine) or indirect (recycling from a bought item). There's a whole page on it explaining the business model in detail (as well as how to make your own from mine!), but here's the short version of how I price an item. Currently, I can only support prices in scraps, GP and sulfur. Most items figure on it (the ones I thought made a minimum of sense to sell). I made a spreadsheet for vending prices! The goal of it was to find out prices that would be cheaper than alternatives (NPC vending machines) while not screwing myself by going too low.
